  • Our artists, of course! They come from a variety of different art backgrounds, giving the studio a supportive environment for fostering creativity. Whether you are tattooless or a seasoned tattooed veteran, we are always here to help you through the process and provide as much information as possible and provide you with an experience that meets your expectations {or surpasses them.)

Stop in sometime and check out our studio.

  • You came to the right place. We are an all-custom shop. Sometimes people bring artwork with them, but more often they have a binder of ideas dancing in their heads. Find the artist whose art fits you, and make an appointment for a consultation so that you two can take some time to flesh out your ideas.

  • Yes

  • The cost of the tattoo depends on a number of factors including size, placement, and color vs. black and grey. For smaller tattoos, we can generally quote you a price up-front.

  • Tattooing of a minor establishes that it is illegal to tattoo anyone under the age of 18. We require written consent of a minor’s parent or legal guardian to perform a tattoo on anyone under the age of 18.

  • We can’t speak for every tattoo studio, but at Gilded Heron your health and safety is our highest priority. In addition to providing new needles for every client, we also adhere to strict procedures to avoid cross-contamination. You can expect to see disposable ink caps, needle tubes, razors, and barriers on everything that must be touched during the tattoo process.

  • Though it is not necessary to make an appointment, it is highly recommended. We do accept walk-ins, on a first come first serve basis. If you are curious about our walk-in availability, the best thing to do is give us a call at 610.351.1122. To make an appointment, please fill out our preliminary booking form or call the Studio to inquire.

  • When you are sick, generally it is a good idea to reschedule your tattoo. Your immune system is already busy trying to fight the infection and doesn’t need further complication. Getting tattooed while sick could make the tattoo take longer to heal (and not heal as well), and prolong your sickness. Even some medications can have an effect on the healing process.

  • A good night’s rest, a proper meal and hydration will not only make the process of tattooing more comfortable, but will also better prepare your body for healing when the tattoo is done. Blood sugar levels are important for being able to keep those endorphins going, which help to keep pain in check. Receiving a tattoo can be a challenging process, so if you’re getting a big tattoo, snacks and arranging a ride for after could be beneficial.

We will also need to see your ID to confirm that you are over 18 years of age.

Be sure to wear comfortable clothing that gives the artist ample access to the area being tattooed. Tattoo inks and ointments are notoriously difficult to remove from fabrics.

Alcohol and painkillers also don’t mix well with getting a tattoo. They can thin the blood, which may slow healing and leave you open to infection for longer. If your doctor has you on medications that thin the blood, please consult with them before getting a tattoo. We will also not tattoo anyone who cannot consent to a modification of their body with a clear mind.

  • It’s a common question that a lot of people are afraid to ask, so here it is. We are providing a service, and artists are only making a cut of the cost of your tattoo. Tipping is expected. If you are getting tattooed plan on tacking on 10-20% (15% is the average) of the cost of your tattoo as a tip. Technically tips are optional and you should only tip what you can comfortably afford. A little something given in all sincerity with gratitude is always better than nothing.
